Okay, so I did my bit these last couple of months. I worked out. I walked. I tried and tried to stay off all possible forms of junk food. (Not sure if a sammich from Subway counts as Junk, the debate on that with Madre continues ..)
Anyway, the last 7 months have not seen alcohol consumed in litres - barring the Kingfisher tweetup in March and Dolally in May, but then who says no to Dolally Beer?! Exactly, NOBODY! BUT, even then, I managed to control the guzzling, and stuck to beer by the glass instead of beer by the bottle or the pitcher. (Yes, I love my beer, maybe not more than coffee but I still do love it.)
I gained quite a lot of weight post the arthroscopic surgery , even though friends claimed I lost weight. No. I didn't. I knew I had gained, but only because I was bed ridden for what, like almost 2 months (Can't do much with crutches in both hands) . Disaster struck when my physician claimed my system was messed up and I had to change my "Lifestyle" , now obviously, for those of you who know me, I cannot drink beer without having munchies. Most of you who say that the only way women stay fit or have those awesome cheek bones is because they keep yakking and that exercises their jawline, yup, for me, it is the constant munching on something or the other which makes me chubby (cheekbones, whaat?) LOL, Anyway, I walked, and walked, walked a lot, lost 2 kilos. BUT, the dang problem is I CAN'T STOP EATING!
And that is where Houston found the problem. Now, the deal with Madre is, she hustled me up, went full Army chief on me, wouldn't let me touch coffee - except on Sunday, because it is a day when one can cheat on the regular rigorous (BORING) routine of green tea and breakfast.
So here is where I was goofing up:
- I would always end up running out of the house without breakfast , obviously resulting in me picking up some roadside/junk food for lunch from the metro station or anywhere near office.
- I was having atleast 6 cups of coffee DAILY; mostly because I live at & work from home and well beer isn't like Junior PC says "readily available" (even though I come from the land where water is costlier than beer/alcohol) so yeah anyway, 6 cups of Coffee = 9 spoons of sugar.
- I stopped Exercising , I mean besides the daily physio for the knee, I was just not exercising. Because who has the time yaar?
Right? NOT!
I changed this stuff gradually (read as the last one month) , been having regular breakfast, I still have cravings to eat out but guess what I've been controlling the cravings and it has ended up saving me money!Yay! New jeans!:D
I still haven't got back to exercising. I gave up. Why, you ask? I lost motivation. I had nobody to, like my bestest buddy Zero says, "Bitch talk" me , somebody to push me. So here is what I intend on doing. I intend on uploading all my heavy metal, dub step, music playlist back on the ipod and get moving.
How do I do this? I still haven't figured out a way. It is extremely difficult for me to make that extra effort to wake up in the morning, and it's almost 9pm by the time I'm home. Also, like I said, No motivation.
I have however logged myself into the LIVESTRONG today, to track my calorie intake etc etc. I've been having green tea regularly! 2 cups a day without fail. Heck! I have green tea more than the number of times I go to Church in a week! No coffee. Coffee now comes in my 'luxury item' list and yes, it has made a difference.
Trust me, that whole jabberwhocky about "Oh, you should learn to love your body yada yada yada" is the biggest stinkiest piece of bull crap anybody can ever tell you. DO NOT BUY IT! Even if your guy tells you it's fine, Hell no, it isn't!
I think the best piece of advice ever given to me was by a football fanatic mate who said, "It's not that you are eating more, it is just that you are moving less." True that!
So yeah, I do intend to get back to walking, but from Monday, for sure, because tomorrow is a feast , nobody can say no to. Yes, yes, in all likelihood I will behave and not go gringo, but it's Eid delicacies so yay!
Stay fit, not fat!
cheerio!
p.s: I can't gym or run/jog or even play a sport till January 2013 , my orthopaedist doesn't want me taking any risks.
p.p.s: If you really want to have green tea, I like the Lipton Citrus Green Tea or The Jasmine one. Not that Organic one please. Looks, smells and tastes horrendous!
